The Newborn Care Solutions Agency - Professional NCS and Postpartum Doula services

Overnight Newborn Care Services

Only Agency Founded by an Internationally Accredited Training Provider

What is Overnight Newborn Care?

Overnight newborn care connects families with professionally trained Newborn Care Specialists who provide expert support during nighttime hours, typically 8-12 hour shifts from evening through morning. At The Newborn Care Solutions Agency, we focus on matching families with specialists whose credentials and experience align with your specific needs.

Specialists handle all nighttime infant care including feeding, diaper changes, soothing, and establishing healthy sleep foundations while parents rest. You hire your specialist directly and contract with them independentlyโ€”our role is vetting, matching, and supporting the placement process. This support helps families recover from birth, establish routines, and build confidence during those critical first weeks.

Key Benefits of Overnight Newborn Care

Uninterrupted Sleep for Recovery - Parents get essential restorative sleep while specialists manage all nighttime care, crucial for postpartum healing and mental health.

Establish Healthy Sleep Habits - Specialists use evidence-based techniques to create optimal sleep environments and routines from the start, preventing future sleep challenges.

Expert Feeding Support - Whether breastfeeding, formula feeding, or combination feeding, specialists provide hands-on guidance and support throughout the night.

Confidence Through Education - Learn infant care techniques through expert demonstration, gaining skills that benefit your entire parenting journey.

Faster Postpartum Recovery - Adequate sleep dramatically improves physical healing, emotional wellbeing, and ability to bond with your baby during daytime hours.

The Terminology: Baby Nurse vs. Newborn Care Specialist

It's important to understand the distinction: 'baby nurse' or 'night nurse' technically refers to Licensed Nurses (RNs or LPNs) who provide medical care to infants. The Newborn Care Solutions Agency places Newborn Care Specialists and postpartum doulas who focus on non-medical support.

Our specialists are trained in newborn feeding support, sleep methods grounded in current research, infant development, proper care techniques, recognizing concerns requiring pediatric consultation, and parent educationโ€”but they do not provide medical care, diagnosis, or medication administration.

This distinction matters because families sometimes expect medical services that fall outside a specialist's scope. We ensure you understand exactly what support you're receiving and connect you with specialists whose training matches those expectations.

FAQ

New Parents Adjusting to Parenthood
First-time parents benefit immensely from overnight support, gaining uninterrupted sleep while learning from an expert through observation and daily communication about what worked well overnight.

Mothers Recovering from Difficult Births
Women recovering from C-sections, traumatic deliveries, or postpartum complications need adequate sleep for proper healing. Overnight care provides essential recovery time.

Parents of Babies With Feeding Challenges
Babies with reflux, tongue ties, weight gain concerns, or other feeding issues require frequent nighttime attention. Specialists experienced in these challenges provide expert care and detailed tracking.

Families Managing Older Children
Parents of toddlers or older children need to be well-rested to meet daytime parenting demands. Overnight care ensures parents can focus on older siblings during the day.

Parents Returning to Work
Professional parents returning to demanding careers need quality sleep to perform effectively. Overnight care makes the transition back to work manageable.

Families With Multiples
Parents of twins or triplets face exponentially increased nighttime demands. Specialized overnight care for multiples is often essential, not optional.

High-Risk Postpartum Situations
Parents with history of postpartum depression/anxiety, those at risk for these conditions, or those experiencing current mental health challenges benefit significantly from adequate sleep that overnight care provides.
Our Foundation
The agency was created by Tonya Sakowicz, former co-president of the International Nanny Association and founder of the only CACHE International-accredited newborn care training program in the United States. That background informs every aspect of how we evaluate specialistsโ€”we know what quality training looks like because we've built it.

How We Vet Specialists
Every specialist in our network has earned credentials from CACHE-accredited programs, The Newborn Care Specialist Association (NCSA), or passed our proprietary internal assessment. Beyond certifications, we verify references, conduct background checks, and assess practical knowledge and communication skills. Overnight care requires someone you trust completely in your home while you sleepโ€”our vetting reflects that responsibility.

Matching Beyond Credentials
We match based on your specific situation: feeding challenges, sleep philosophy preferences, experience with multiples or preemies, schedule requirements, and personality compatibility. Credentials get someone into our network; matching gets the right person into your home.

How Payment Works
You hire your specialist directly and pay them for services rendered. Our placement fee covers the vetting, matching, and support processโ€”explained fully during your consultation. After placement, the employment relationship is between you and your specialist, keeping communication direct and the arrangement clear.
Most families find that 5-7 nights per week provides optimal benefit during the early weeks, allowing consistent routine establishment and adequate parental recovery. Some families start with 7 nights and reduce to 3-5 nights as they gain confidence.
Step 1: Complimentary Consultation
Call (602) 695-6775 or email agency@newborncaresolutions.com to discuss your due date, specific care needs, preferred schedule, and any special considerations. We'll also cover placement fees and typical specialist rates so you can plan accordingly.

Step 2: Needs Assessment
We assess your baby's current or anticipated needs, your nighttime routine preferences, home setup, feeding methods, and any special concerns (multiples, premature baby, feeding challenges).

Step 3: Specialist Matching
We identify 2-3 specialists whose qualifications align with your needs, providing detailed profiles, certifications, experience summaries, previous family testimonials, and availability.

Step 4: Interviews & Selection
You interview matched specialists to discuss sleep philosophies, assess communication style, review schedule and rates, and select your preferred specialist.

Step 5: Contract & Start
You establish direct employment agreement with your specialist using our templates and guidance, finalize schedule and household expectations, and confirm your start date. Earlier outreachโ€”ideally during your second trimesterโ€”gives you access to specialists with the strongest credentials and availability.

Step 6: Ongoing Support
The NCS Agency provides continued support throughout your placement for any questions, concerns, or adjustments needed.
Fee Structure
Placement Fee: One-time fee to The NCS Agency for comprehensive vetting, candidate matching, interview support, and placement guidance through successful hire.
Specialist Rates: Paid directly to your Newborn Care Specialist or Postpartum Doula. Arizona rates typically $35-55+ per hour depending on:

1. Professional certifications and experience level
2. Specialized skills (lactation training, sleep coaching, multiples care)
3. Geographic location
4. Shift length and schedule (overnight, daytime, 24/7)

Weekly Rate Examples (Based on 7 Nights/Week)

10-Hour Shifts (10pm-8am):
- Singleton: $2,450 - $3,850/week
- Twins/Multiples: $2,940 - $4,620/week

12-Hour Shifts (8pm-8am):
- Singleton: $2,940 - $4,620/week
- Twins/Multiples: $3,360 - $5,280/week

Note: These are estimated ranges. Actual rates negotiated directly with your chosen specialist. Most families engage overnight care for 4-12 weeks, though arrangements can be shorter or longer.
Many families begin immediately after coming home from the hospital, though some wait until baby is a few weeks old. Both approaches work wellโ€”it depends on your recovery needs and preferences.
Not at all! Specialists trained in lactation support basics will bring baby to you for nursing, help with positioning, support pumping schedules, and track feeding sessions. Many mothers find overnight support actually helps establish successful breastfeeding by reducing stress and exhaustion.
Specialists experienced in feeding challenges can work with you on bottle introduction techniques. For exclusively breastfed babies, specialists bring baby to you for feeds while handling all other nighttime care.
No. Unlike live-in care, overnight specialists do not require private sleeping quarters. They stay awake and attentive throughout their shift, usually working in the nursery or a comfortable area near baby.
We recommend reaching out during your second trimester for the strongest selection of qualified specialists. The professionals with the most experience and credentials tend to commit earlyโ€”families who wait until the third trimester sometimes find their options more limited. That said, we regularly accommodate families with shorter timelines and have completed placements quickly when circumstances required.
We maintain a network of backup specialists. When you book through The NCS Agency, we work to arrange coverage for any unexpected absences, though we recommend discussing backup plans with your specialist as well.
