First time parents are expecting a boy and are seeking support by a Newborn Care Specialist. Dad’s job is very demanding at this time of the year (until mid to late January) and will be traveling some Saturdays, leaving mom at home with the baby overnight, which is why the Saturday night help is important for the first 4 weeks especially. Mom will be the one primarily around the home, but also works (a mix of from home, and having to do home showings with clients) and is looking for help and finding someone she trusts since there will be a strong potential to have the NCS stay on longer term if they are available so she can transition back to work and a set-schedule. During the day shift, mom would like help around setting and maintaining a solid routine, calming baby, techniques to try, baby laundry, cleaning/sanitizing bottles. During the night shift, if mom is breastfeeding she would greatly appreciate guidance and support from the caregiver on techniques to try, routines, etc. The family would like to get their newborn into a good sleeping routine quickly, as well as into a good daytime routine. This family has expressed that they consider a routine one of the most-important things for developing good habits so the baby can learn to sleep throughout the night and develop good consistent habits during the daytime hours. Mom is planning on both breastfeeding and pumping to allow for bottle feeding breastmilk when needed. The parents consider themselves minimalists, and their home is quiet, peaceful, open and bright. They are very active, healthy, love working out, cook at home, eat healthy and approach things from a natural perspective - no seed oils, healing through herbs and vitamins vs. medicine, no preservatives, natural skincare ingredients, non-toxic cleaning products, etc and love spending time outside going on walks, hikes, etc. They would ideally like their NCS to be knowledgeable and supportive of this lifestyle. You will be resting in the guest bedroom with a baby monitor for the night shift.
