A warm, thoughtful first-time family in Bloomfield Hills, MI is seeking an exceptional, highly experienced Newborn Care Specialist to provide expert care and guidance during their babyโs first six months.

The ideal candidate brings a calm, nurturing presence and extensive knowledge of newborn care, feeding, sleep, developmental cues, and healthy routines. The family hopes to develop a trusted professional partnership with someone who will confidently care for their baby while helping them become informed and capable first-time parents.

The family is looking for one NCS however, there will be opportunities for the NCS to have breaks during the contract when family members and/or their nanny are available to provide relief support.ย Because babies do not always arrive on schedule, the family and NCS will agree in advance on an appropriate start-date window and availability surrounding the expected due date.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate newborn care
- Maintain a safe environment and follow current evidence-based infant-safety practices
- Recognize and respond appropriately to the babyโs feeding, sleep, comfort, and developmental cues
- Support the establishment of healthy, age-appropriate routines
- Assist with breastfeeding and feeding within the NCSโs professional training and scope
- Prepare and clean bottles, feeding equipment, and pump parts as needed
- Maintain accurate feeding, sleep, diaper, and developmental records
- Help the parents understand patterns in the babyโs feeding, sleep, and behavior
- Offer clear, evidence-based recommendations while respecting the parentsโ preferences and decisions
- Educate and reassure the parents as they gain confidence caring for their baby
- Maintain the nursery and organize baby-related supplies
- Handle the babyโs laundry and other agreed-upon baby-related tasks
- Communicate proactively with the parents regarding the babyโs care, progress, and any concerns
- The family employs a full-time housekeeper, so this position will remain focused on the baby and clearly defined baby-related responsibilities.

Candidate Qualifications
- Substantial professional experience caring for newborns
- Master NCSยฎ credentials preferred, or equivalent advanced training and experience
- Strong knowledge of newborn feeding, sleep, soothing, safety, and development
- Experience supporting breastfeeding families within their professional scope
- Current infant CPR and first-aid certification
- Excellent references and the ability to complete appropriate background screening
- A valid driverโs license and passport
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- A calm, patient, warm, attentive, and nurturing demeanor
- Professionalism, emotional intelligence, discretion, and respect for family privacy
- Comfort signing a confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement
- Comfort with a long-term live-in assignment and working collaboratively within a private household

The parents are engaged, research-oriented, and eager to learn. They value an NCS who can explain the reasoning behind recommendations, share knowledge without being prescriptive, and support them in remaining actively involved in their babyโs care.

The household is health-conscious and prefers a clean, fragrance-free environment and thoughtfully selected low-toxin products. The NCS should be comfortable respecting these household preferences while continuing to base newborn-care recommendations on current evidence and accepted safety standards.

Accommodations
The NCS will have private live-in accommodations, including a private bedroom and bathroom. A separate comfortable space near the baby will also be available for resting during scheduled working hours when appropriate.
The family is seeking a trusted professional partner who can provide outstanding newborn care, education, reassurance, and consistency throughout the first six months. There may be an opportunity to work with the family again following future births.

Schedule: 18 hr shifts with a 6 hr break each day
